Adding Breadcrumbs to Your Site
Learn how to enable and configure breadcrumb navigation to help visitors understand their location on your site.
Overview
Breadcrumbs are a secondary navigation aid that shows the path from the homepage to the current page. They help visitors:
- Understand site structure – See where they are in the hierarchy
- Navigate quickly – Jump back to any parent page
- Improve SEO – Search engines use breadcrumbs for indexing
Enabling Breadcrumbs
- Go to your Dashboard → select your site
- Navigate to Content → Menus
- Find the Breadcrumb card
- Toggle the switch to ON
- Click Save Changes

How Breadcrumbs Work
Breadcrumbs automatically generate based on your page hierarchy in Craft:

Each segment is clickable and links to that page.
Breadcrumb Structure
| Element | Description |
|---|---|
| Home | Your site's homepage (root) |
| Parent Pages | Intermediate pages in the hierarchy |
| Current Page | The page the visitor is viewing |
Configuring Breadcrumb Options
Click the Breadcrumb card to access detailed settings:
- Home Icon – Use an icon or text for the home link
- Separator Style – Choose between
/, >, or › - Show Current Page – Include or exclude the current page title

Best Practices
- Enable for deep sites – Breadcrumbs are most useful for sites with more than 2 levels
- Use with Side Menu – Combine breadcrumbs with sidebar for best navigation
- Keep hierarchy logical – Breadcrumbs reflect your Craft document structure
